What is life like for a person who has worked abroad for more than a decade, but has finally returned home and found his place in the Lithuanian construction market? Today Justinas, a member of the MARINO team, talks about exactly that.

Long years abroad, but the heart remained in Lithuania
Asked if he has been working in Lithuania all his life, Justinas smiles and shakes his head, “I spent 11 years in England, but I didn’t really fit in during that time. I realised it wasn’t my country, so I came back home and I don’t regret it at all.”
When he returned to Lithuania, he found a job in Klaipėda, and as he says: “I don’t live in Klaipėda, so every day I have this easy business trip – I leave in the morning and come back in the evening. But it’s always nice to come home after work.”
Why MARINO?
It was not by chance that Justinas came to MARINO: it was not a job advert but a recommendation from an acquaintance that got him interested. “My friends told me that there was a shortage of specialists, so I asked what the conditions were. I heard good recommendations about a stable and timely salary, so I decided to give it a try”, he recalls.
The recommendations proved to be a success and Justinas has been working here for a year and a half now and is happy: “Because the job has what I need: stable salary, good working conditions, good relations with supervisors and colleagues. The most important thing is that I have the opportunity to work in Lithuania.”
The first project is still the most memorable
After joining MARINO, the specialist soon immersed himself in projects. “We were building a house in Klaipėda, and that project is still stuck in my memory.” Not only because it was his first project in Lithuania since his return, but also because of the technological challenges: “The heated and cooled ceilings – as an interior finisher, it was quite a design challenge. It’s challenging but very interesting.”
Continuous development even after 13 years of experience
Although Justinas has solid work experience, he is still interested in innovation: “Sometimes there are seminars or presentations about new materials and technologies that are making their way into the Lithuanian market. It’s interesting to see how solutions are changing and what options manufacturers are offering.”
“I want to know what’s happening on the market, what technologies can be useful at work, so I develop on my own initiative,” he says with a smile.
A team is more than colleagues
Justinas values teamwork and communication in his daily work life: “If there is a problem or an uncertainty, we always consult with our work managers or experienced colleagues. No one is left alone with questions, you always find someone to help or advise. Only teamwork and open conversation can achieve the best result.” So if any of your friends are thinking of joining MARINO, Justinas would strongly recommend giving it a try: “If there’s any vacancies and if you’re qualified enough, I would definitely suggest giving it a try. It’s worth it.”
The most important qualities at work are not only knowledge, but also attitude
A good employee has not only the knowledge but also the right attitude towards work: “Communication skills are very important, especially when you have to work with people from different countries or different areas,” – says Justinas. However, he also sees another challenge – employee laziness: “It’s a big problem when people come to work only for the salary, not for the desire to work or to improve. It’s important to create the conditions for development, to send people to training, to improve their skills, to reward them for their efforts. This makes the employee feel valued and needed.”
How does Justinas see MARINO in five years?
“If the company continues to develop, does not stand still, and expands its projects not only in Klaipėda, but also throughout Lithuania – everything will be fine”, – Justinas thinks. He believes that growth and new projects in different cities across the country can strengthen MARINO’s position in the market and provide even more opportunities for both employees and clients.
