#8 “Marino and I”. Regional Manager Žilvinas

Žilvinas joined Marino Projects without big plans to become a manager. He simply came to work. But sometimes, the most impactful stories begin exactly like that. Today, he is a Regional Manager in Germany, responsible for several sites and a team of more than 50 specialists. And from his very first working day to this role, less than a year has passed.

An unplanned beginning

“A friend suggested the company to me. At the time, I was thinking about moving back to Lithuania, but he said — try Marino Projects. I tried it, and it turned out that I stayed.”

Žilvinas has been living in Germany for many years, so the opportunity to work for a Lithuanian company without changing his country of residence felt like an ideal solution. His first project at Marino Projects was planned simply — site work as a tiler. However, his construction experience, ability to work with people, and natural leadership quickly changed those plans.

“I was promoted to a site manager position almost immediately. It wasn’t something new for me — I had spent many years working in construction finishing, ran my own company, and knew how to communicate with a team and take responsibility.”

Growth through work, not promises

From his first working day to the role of Regional Manager — gained through work, not promises. “I believe the most important factors were results: deadlines, quality, and team stability. I didn’t avoid problems — I stepped into them. That’s how trust and growth came.”

Today, Žilvinas constantly travels across Germany, coordinates work in different cities, and ensures that specialists on site feel confident and supported.

Leadership built on respect

Asked what matters most when working with a team, Žilvinas answers without hesitation: “Respect. If you promise something — you deliver. Unfulfilled promises are where frustration and conflict begin.”

From the very first days, it was clear that communication would be one of Žilvinas’ key leadership principles. He describes himself as a manager who talks first: “I try to solve everything diplomatically. It’s important to me that a person understands the situation, not feels punished. Honesty and humanity matter most.”

Working side by side with the team

Žilvinas’ leadership style comes from years of hands-on construction experience: “I spent 10–12 years working in interior finishing and construction. Carrying materials, loading, unloading, or showing how something should be done is nothing unfamiliar to me. If needed, I take off the jacket and do it myself.”

He shares that more than once he has personally driven to sites to resolve situations and worked nights so his team wouldn’t be overworked: “Maybe sometimes I give too much of myself, but that’s just who I am.”

Why Marino Projects?

When talking about working at Marino Projects, Žilvinas emphasizes that for him, it’s not only the final result that matters, but also the process — how problems are solved and how people are treated. “What’s important to me is clear structure and systems. When you know exactly what you’re responsible for, work becomes much easier.”

Having worked in Germany for many years, he has seen many companies and naturally compares: “People leave, try working elsewhere, and then come back. That shows that people here are treated fairly. We all want to try something new. There’s no mindset that if you leave, there’s no way back. If someone wants to return, they’re accepted normally.”

He also highlights the team spirit both on sites and among managers: “With regional and project managers, we quickly found common ground. If questions come up, there’s always someone to consult.”

Responsibility when it matters most

Summing up his role, Žilvinas puts it simply: “For me, being a Regional Manager means not standing on the sidelines and commenting, but taking responsibility when things get tough and pressure is high.”

Stories like this build trust — not advertising promises, but people who work side by side with their teams every day.
